Know your lamp needs a Euro Fitter but not sure which size?
Euro fitters are available in three sizes. The standard size has an interior diameter of 1 9/16" and this size is the most common.
- Small Euro Fitter - 1 3/8"
- Standard Euro Fitter - 1 9/16"
- Large Euro Fitter - 1 5/8"
Did you notice that there is only 1/16" difference between the standard and large sizes? This can make it difficult to know if you are choosing the right size. Here's a little trick that will help.
Put a piece of scotch tape around the threads on your lamp that your euro fitter will slide over. This will make the measuring easier.
Next, take a piece of string and measure around the tape. If the circumference is around 4.32", you need a Small Euro Fitter. If the circumference is around 4.9", you need a Standard Euro Fitter, and if the circumference is around 5.10" you need a large Euro Fitter.
When in doubt, scale up, you can always add a washer underneath the Euro Fitter to stabilize it on the lamp.
If your measurement has a circumference closer to 3.9" and is even smaller than the Small Euro Fitter, you may need an uno fitter. Interested in more information about the differences between a uno fitter and an uno fitter? Check out this blog post.
