FAQ
Free Shipping on Orders $35+
I try to keep things simple and consistent. Orders over $35 ship for free. Orders under $35 ship for the flat rate of $8. This is how my Etsy page operates, so I am able to keep my pricing consistent on both sites.
Lead Time
Average order lead time for in-stock items is 1-3 days to process and ship. Shipping time can vary based on your location. In most cases, I conservatively estimate shipping time to be 7-10 business days. You will receive a tracking number to better estimate your order's ship time once it is in transit. If you need an item sooner, please send me a message before placing your order and we can review your options together to find the right one for your situation.
The lead time for custom made lamp shades is currently 6-8 weeks, and they cannot be expedited. I have too many outstanding orders at any given time, and to let one order 'jump the line' disrupts my system and the ability to keep all the orders going out the door on time. Additionally, parts need to be ordered for custom sized lamp shades, and I can't control how quickly I receive my supplies.
Shipping & Tracking
I use USPS, Fedex, and UPS shipping to find the fastest and most cost effective shipping options for your order. Insurance and a tracking number are included with these shipping services. I will notify you with tracking as soon as your order is in the mail.
Shipping quotes are for shipping within the contiguous United States. Looking for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or for international shipping options? Please send me a message that includes the item(s) that interest you and the shipping address, and I will get back to you with a shipping quote.
Can't Find Your Order Information
If you do not receive an email from us, please check your email's spam inbox before sending us an email. If your order is experiencing a delay, you should receive an email from us with updates to your order status. If there is no email to be found, please send me a message so I can get the issue sorted out.
Trouble Deciding or Considering Custom
Some things are just difficult to buy online. Sometimes, you need to experience the colors/textures/smells in real life to decide if it's right for you. I've been there. Head over to the Contact Me page, and let's discuss. In most cases, I can send swatches in the mail, get you more photos of the product you are considering, or clarify details that may seem unclear.
Unsure If My Shades Will Work on Your Lamp
My shades use a standard lamp shade spider ring with a washer center. If your lamp requires an uno ring or a clip, there are inexpensive adapters available online that will allow you to use my shades with your lamp. A google search for "lamp shade uno to spider adapter"/"slip uno adapter" or "bulb clip adapter with finial"/"clip-on to finial adapter" should bring up some options. I'm currenting working on some infographics that will help with lamp terminology and hardware options. I know it's not common knowledge, so please don't hesitate to ask if something is unclear. There are no silly questions, I promise.
Help Finding the Correct Size for Your Shade
I'm currently working on some helpful tips and tricks for sizing the right shade for your lamp base, but it's hard to beat seeing a personalized mock up to visualize the different options. For now, the best thing I can offer is my one-on-one help. Please visit my Checklist page to see what information I need to help you find the perfect size. Next, send me a message via my email kristanhyde [@] gmail.com or my Etsy page with your photo and dimensions, and we can go from there.
Returns
I don't offer returns or exchanges on made-to-order items. Not only are they custom made for each order, but especially in the case of my handmade lamp shades, they are packaged thoughtfully to prevent damage during shipping. When reusing packaging materials, there is a higher chance of damage during transit.
Assuming a returned shade were to arrive back to me safely, I would refund the cost of the shade minus the shipping costs. Because the shipping cost is rolled into the price of the shade, it's not apparent that the shipping cost is often up to 30% of the price of the shade (one way). That would be a 60% loss on the purchase after shipping fees, and I don't feel good about offering that as a solution. I find it better to say, "I don't accept returns. Please ask any questions before placing an order."
That being said, if there are any issues/questions/concerns, please contact me.
